The Adams Speedline Fairway Wood aims to provide a true hybrid by combining the versatility of a hybrid iron and the distance of a fairway wood. While this is an intriguing idea, it puts the club into more of a niche than it would like to be in.
The Speedline Fairway Wood sports a lower center of gravity than most clubs, which is generally better for golfer with a slower swing speed. For somebody who swings clubs at a faster tempo, a fairway wood with a more traditional center of gravity would probably be more effective, seeing as you wouldn't need the extra momentum. The Adams Golf Insight XTD A3 Hybrid Fairway Woods do an excellent job of filling that niche as well.
The club is also said to have a 12% higher MOI than an average fairway wood on the market today. This means that at the moment of inertia, you'll have less twisting in your clubface, thus providing a larger sweet spot. In the end, this makes the Adams Speedline Fairway Wood a particularly forgiving club in comparison to other fairway woods.
While the Adams Speedline Fairway Wood isn't recommended for everybody, it is an excellent club for golfers with a slower swing speed who aren't 100% confident in their fairway wood game. Soft or regular shafts are recommended to pair nicely with the lower center of gravity, and loft can be adjusted to taste.
