If you've ever tried to find a set of golf clubs for a lefty -- and a junior -- then I'm sure you share the frustration I felt back then. Orlimar has made a set that might remedy that, however. The folks at Orlimar have been around since 1959 and, in my opinion, have been making very good quality, yet affordable, golf equipment for some time now.

This junior set called "Fury" by Orlimar features a 14-degree driver, 28-degree 2-hybrid, 6/7-iron (combo), putter, and stand bag. Designed for the golfer in the 8-12 year old range, this set has a good make-up without getting too complicated for the young player. The driver is oversized (360 cc) and easy to hit. The 2H is a passable club for most any long shot from the fairway, and the 6/7-combo iron is a great all-around club for those shorter approaches and chips. The putter features heel-toe weighting and has an extended head for nice balance and easy alignment. Each club is fitted with a composite shaft in Junior flex -- a flex that optimizes distance at slower swing speeds common to young players. The stand bag is outfitted with multiple zippered pockets and a double carry-strap for even weight distribution across the shoulders, something all carriers should have but especially important for the junior player.

Golf is supposed to be fun, and the Fury junior set from Orlimar should be deliver that nicely for your junior player. Lightweight, easy to use, and yet full-featured -- I only wish options like this had been around a few years when I was looking.

US Kids Junior Golf Clubs, Tour Series Set of 10 w/ Driver http://www.zipgolfer.com/us-kids-junior-golf-clubs-tour-series-set-of-10-w-driver/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/us-kids-junior-golf-clubs-tour-series-set-of-10-w-driver/#comments Thu, 11 Mar 2010 10:31:49 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=2128 US Kids Junior Golf Clubs, Tour SeriesHere's a set of golf clubs for your little golf prodigy. These are from the US Kids Golf Tour Series. They are designed for more advanced children who have been playing golf and have a higher swing speed than the beginner.

This set comes with ten golf clubs, a big oversize driver, a 3 wood, 4 hybrid, irons 5 through wedge, with a pitching wedge, a gap wedge, and a sand wedge.

The biggest differences between these Tour Series and the Ultralight Series are the clubhead weight, the shaft stiffness, and the more advanced materials. This 63-inch-tall series is for swing speeds of 74 mph and over. If you are not sure of your child's swing speed, he can be tested at most pro shops, golf shops, or driving ranges for free. (Another way might be: If your kid is good enough to go get his swing speed tested at a pro shop, then he's good enough to appreciate these golf clubs.)

This set is best for children who are between 61.5 inches to 64.5 inches. If your child is just starting out, don't buy this set -- check out the US Kids 2008 Ultralight Green Series.

US Kids Junior Golf Club Set, Ultralight Green | Includes Carry Stand Bag http://www.zipgolfer.com/us-kids-junior-golf-club-set-ultralight-green-includes-carry-stand-bag/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/us-kids-junior-golf-club-set-ultralight-green-includes-carry-stand-bag/#comments Tue, 09 Mar 2010 10:11:55 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=2125 US Kids Junior Golf Club Set,So it's time to get the bambino (or bambi-nette) a set of golf clubs. This is a pretty snazzy beginner set. This set of US Kids 2008 has five golf clubs including a driver and a putter.

This Ultralight Series is designed for the first-time golfer made with light clubheads and flexible shafts. The shafts are made from a very light composite which are all matched (just like our big boy golf clubs).

You should buy golf clubs based on your child's height. I recommend these for kids whose height ranges from 48 inches to 54 inches tall. I also would recommend you get your kid a lesson with a club pro, or a summer kid's group where they will learn the game correctly from the beginning.

My favorite thing about this set is the golf bag. This is the lightweight stand bag that you carry like a backpack. These are very popular for golfers at all levels, and is very similar to the one I use regularly. I'm sure your golf-pro-to-be is going to like it.

If, by chance, your child has already been playing for a while and you're looking for a higher quality set, check out the US Kids Golf Tour Series. These clubs are made with better and heavier materials with stiffer shafts.

Medicus Junior 5 Iron Club | Dual Hinged Youth Training Swing Aide http://www.zipgolfer.com/medicus-junior-5-iron-club-dual-hinged-youth-training-swing-aide/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/medicus-junior-5-iron-club-dual-hinged-youth-training-swing-aide/#comments Sun, 01 Nov 2009 10:24:26 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=1825 Medicus Junior 5 Iron Club Here's the junior version of one of the best tools invented for improving your golf swing. I would recommend this Medicus Junior's Dual Hinged 5 Iron for your child if he already has achieved a certain amount of success with his golf swing. In other words, this club is not designed for beginners, but will certainly help correct swing flaws once you have learned to consistently make solid contact with the ball

The Medicus consists of a hinge on the shaft of a 5-iron. The concept being that unless you swing the club with good tempo and on plane, the hinge will release and you will not make solid contact with the ball. You may not even make any contact with the ball. With the Medicus, you cannot pick the club up to start your swing (a very common swing flaw). Instead, to keep the hinge from releasing, you will need to sweep the club back. The Medicus will teach you to use your body more and concentrate on tempo.

The Medicus is my favorite swing trainer and is something that I go back to frequently when I am struggling with my swing. I like the Medicus Junior's Dual Hinged Jumbo Driver even more than the five iron because with the heavier club head, it takes even more skill to swing.

Medicus Junior Jumbo Driver | Dual Hinged Youth Training Club http://www.zipgolfer.com/medicus-junior-jumbo-driver-dual-hinged-youth-training-club/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/medicus-junior-jumbo-driver-dual-hinged-youth-training-club/#comments Sat, 31 Oct 2009 21:16:05 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=1823 Medicus Junior Jumbo Driver This is a great tool to help improve your golf swing. The Medicus Junior's Dual Hinged Jumbo Driver has a dual hinge that will break unless you swing the club back smoothly and continue to have consistent tempo throughout your follow through.

Although this particular Medicus is designed for juniors, it is not a club for beginners. If your child has already achieved a certain amount of success and can make consistent contact with the ball, then the Medicus will help him improve his golf swing.

This Medicus consists of a hinge on the shaft of a Jumbo Driver. The concept being that unless you swing the club with good tempo and on plane, the hinge will release and you will not make solid contact with the ball. You may not even make any contact with the ball. With the Medicus, you cannot pick the club up to start your swing (a very common swing flaw.) Instead, to keep the hinge from releasing, you will need to sweep the club back. The Medicus will teach you to use your body more and concentrate on tempo and keeping the club on the correct plane.

They also make a Medicus Junior 5-iron. I like the Jumbo Driver better because it breaks down easier and takes more proficiency than the 5-iron.

Teen Youth Golf Set w/ Stand Bag Backpack | Precise XD-T http://www.zipgolfer.com/teen-youth-golf-set-w-stand-bag-backpack-precise-xd-t/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/teen-youth-golf-set-w-stand-bag-backpack-precise-xd-t/#comments Fri, 09 Oct 2009 16:02:59 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=1466 Teen YouthGolf Set w/ Stand BagHere's a seven club starter kit for your teenager. It comes with a 430 cc driver, an 18 degree 3 wood, a hybrid wood, 3 irons, a putter, and a backpack-style stand bag. This set is ideal for teens with the height range of 5'1" - 5'7".

This is an inexpensive set of golf clubs to get your teen going in our great sport of golf. All the technology in this set is designed for beginners. The graphite shafts of the driver and the woods are light and easy to swing. All the clubs are oversized with a big sweet spot. The irons are offset to help square the clubface, and of course all the teens enjoy throwing the backpack bag on their shoulders.

I would recommend this set only if you are unsure if your teen is going to like this sport, or if you just don't have the money to invest in a high quality set of clubs.

However, if your teens are already addicted to this game and you want a decent set of clubs to get started, check out the Adams Golf A2 Irons. These are very forgiving clubs that they will learn to hit very quickly. What's more is, these clubs are much higher quality and will continue to compliment their game as your kids progress.

Wilson Golf Balls | SpongeBob SquarePants | Kids Golf 6 Set http://www.zipgolfer.com/wilson-golf-balls-spongebob-squarepants-kids-golf-6-set/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/wilson-golf-balls-spongebob-squarepants-kids-golf-6-set/#comments Tue, 15 Sep 2009 20:25:07 +0000 Jess http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=890 Wilson Golf Balls I love it! When Tiger started playing, it definitely encouraged younger players to begin learning the game of golf -- but this is almost ridiculous, isn't it? But again... I love it!

Why not have the kids come out and learn the game and enjoy it with Mom and Dad? And what better way than to encourage them with a ball that has a lot of "character?"

That's right: Wilson Sponge Bob Golf Balls. 6 of them, friends. Not slouchers, either. These little babies have a high powered titanium core, 2 piece construction, and a "cut-proof" Ionomer cover that helps them last a long time.

The great thing about these types of balls (which are not all that expensive) is that generally the younger golfers using these can't get them too far into trouble. That way, you will almost always be able to retrieve them if they go a little astray.

The hardest thing we may have to do is teach them to line up a putt. "Ok, now son. Just mark your ball, pick it up, and set it back down -- lining up Sponge Bob's buck teeth with the hole..."

All joking aside, I give some props to Wilson for creating this more-than-a-novelty ball.

I also reviewed these because it just seems like these would have to go with this set...

Linksman Golf Set w/ Carry Bag | Youth Toddler Graphite http://www.zipgolfer.com/linksman-golf-set-w-carry-bag-youth-toddler-graphite/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/linksman-golf-set-w-carry-bag-youth-toddler-graphite/#comments Tue, 15 Sep 2009 16:15:19 +0000 Jess http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=885 Linksman Golf Set w/ Carry Bag OK, we can learn something from Mr. Woods.

No, not Tiger. Earl. Mister Woods.

If we want our kids to really take care of us in our waning years, buy them clubs at age two and get them swinging. Am I right?

Look at this little set. Linksman Golf 2-4 year old set with Carry Bag. Even though it may be against all of our natures, you just look at the little high-lofted driver, 7 iron, and putter and you just have to say, "Awwww." Then you see that each one has graphite shafts and you do it all over again. "Awwww!" This set is priced well, and as far as Linksman as a name -- this is simply for a very young person to learn how to swing. No Nike or Callaways needed here unless you really care about name brands. For me, it's about seeing if the youngster loves the game and encouraging them if they do! We've all seen what happens when they start young...

It also comes with 10 tees and 6 practice balls, and of course the funniest part of all -- the "carry bag." Right. This thing is designed for kids 2'6" to 3'4". Who is really going to be carrying this thing? That's right. Dad or Mom. But carry the clubs now so they can carry the retirement later, I say. All you might need is a miniature green jacket. You know, just for practice.

My First Golf Pull Cart | Youth Junior Club Set http://www.zipgolfer.com/my-first-golf-pull-cart-youth-junior-club-set/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/my-first-golf-pull-cart-youth-junior-club-set/#comments Fri, 04 Sep 2009 12:28:12 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=1337 My First Golf Pull Cart Let's get this over with. Look at the picture... All together now. "Awwwwwwwwwwww!"

It's Kenny's first pull cart. How sweet! It won't be long before he'll be out on the course chunking shots and throwing his clubs just like the grownups.

Of course, I'm kidding. It is important to get your kids started early playing this wonderful old game steeped in tradition. A game that will teach them values, a work ethic, and sportsmanship. Plus, they need to get cracking A.S.A.P. if they're going to make you rich! (Tiger started when he was 2.)

This little pull cart would make a cute gift for somebody with an aspiring "rug rat" golfer in their household. It's made of a lightweight steel alloy and is designed to be pushed or pulled by a youngster ranging from the ages of "old enough to walk" to "I'm over it, this doesn't look cool anymore."

Also you might want take a look at this Nicklaus Premium Junior Set for ages 9-12. It's a good starter kit for the specified ages.

So what are you waiting for? Go snatch Junior from in front of that video game and take him out to the driving range. He may not hit the ball very far, but I bet he giggles his head off while trying.

Intech Lancer Junior | Youth Golf Club Set w/ Stand Bag http://www.zipgolfer.com/intech-lancer-junior-youth-golf-club-set-w-stand-bag/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/intech-lancer-junior-youth-golf-club-set-w-stand-bag/#comments Mon, 03 Aug 2009 06:55:32 +0000 andrew http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=172 Intech Lancer Junior Getting your son into golf is an exciting idea for dads who love the game, and the Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Set is a great starting point for kids under or around 12 years old. While not packing a huge price tag, it contains all the necessary clubs and accessories for just about any child who wants to hit some balls around with his dad.

The set itself comes with a graphite-shafted driver (17.5 degree loft), a high loft hybrid iron, a normal iron (comparable to a 6 or a 7), a short iron (similar to a wedge), and of course a putter. The club heads all sport a low center of gravity design to accommodate slow swing speed, and are of surprising quality for a budget set of junior clubs.

The bag is your typical stand bag with five pockets and a rain cover to keep the clubs dry (during play or storage). It also totes a padded set of backpack straps so your child won't have to lug their heavy clubs around by hand. When your goal is to help them develop and enjoyment and love for the game, this addition can carry as much weight as the clubs themselves.

This package is available in two sizes (36-48" or 48-58" tall) and comes with right or left handed clubs, making it available to most youngsters. It also comes with three tees and three golf balls so they can get started right away.

Altogether the Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Set is an excellent purchase for your child if they want to get into golf and you don't want to spend more than $100 on a set of clubs.
