Odyssey Black Series 9 Putter I love reviewing Odyssey putters. Odyssey makes such a great product, and it's fun to examine their work. Like a surgeon's tools, Odyssey leaves no details to chance, and they make a putter for everybody.

This particular one, the Odyssey Black Series #9 Putter, is for you Phil Mickelson fans. This putter is modeled after his putter. As we all know, he likes the heel shafted putters.

Let's take a closer look:   it's created with a multi-material using 1025 carbon steel and a weighted tungsten flange. This creates a low, deep center of gravity to promote a true roll. The insert, a calling card of Odyssey putters, is constructed of an elastomer core and a thin outer surface infused with urethane. This gives the putter the superior feel that you expect with Odyssey putters. Finally, they've "hogged-out" the hosel allowing the weight to be redistributed to the tungsten flange for a lower, deeper center of gravity and a better roll.

This is a beautiful putter, and if you prefer to putt with these "old school" heel shafted putters, you won't be disappointed with this one. I, on the other hand -- although I love the way they look -- have trouble keeping the putter head square. You might check out the Odyssey Black Series #2 for an alternative, as the square head is much easier to keep square throughout your stroke.

Whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed with your Odyssey putter. Just make sure to practice with these beautiful tools, so you might become as adept as a surgeon.
