When I set up my golf net in the backyard last summer, I ran into a glitch. The grass in my yard wasn't what I would call "ideal" for hitting a golf ball. I quickly remedied this by grabbing the front door mat. This didn't quite work out either, because when I hit the ball on the mat, the mat and ball both went flying into my golf net. Finally, I went to the garage and came back with some stakes that I retrieved from our camping tent. This held the front door mat in place splendidly, but the mat only lasted for about 6 swings of my 8 iron before it was shredded into pieces.
Thus, you could save yourself a lot of trouble with this Jumbo Practice Mat. This mat consists of super tough turf with a rubber back. (This is definitely tougher than your welcome mat.) It is designed to be used indoors or outdoors and comes with two rubber tees.
If you don't have a net yet, I recommend the Izzo Big Daddy Insta-Net. It sets up in minutes, and it's a lot of fun to bang balls into it. Finally, enjoy your practice facility built in your own backyard. (No welcome mat required.)
