This is one of those books you open up and two hours later the bookstore owner informs you that they are getting ready to close the store. It's a scenic trip to fifty gorgeous courses that most of us will only dream of playing. But that doesn't mean you can't knock out a few on the list and enjoy fantasizing about the others.
The coolest thing about the book is the detailed descriptions that are written by renowned golfers. For example, Nick Faldo gives us his description of Royal Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria. After giving a brief history, he gives you his personal experiences and adds trip planning advice. Many of the United States are included. In my beautiful state of Oregon, the beautiful Bandon Dunes is listed, and in the state I grew up in (Florida) it has TPC Sawgrass. (Of course, this is the home of the famous 17th Island green where the tour pros play The Player's Championship every year.) In addition, many other countries are covered.
The downside to the book is not all the courses have photos. There are some beautiful courses described in text that leave you unsatisfied because you cannot see the beautiful sceneries they describe. I guess you'll just have to go there.
