Take a look at these beautiful Titleist cavity back irons. This model is a few years old, but is still a great club. I played these clubs for years before I switched to the Titleist 735CM, which I currently play.
The 690s are a forgiving cavity back, but are forged so they have a very solid feel. The first thing that I noticed when I played these irons is the ball flew higher and landed softer. I also really liked the confidence that I had with a slightly bigger clubface.
However, mishits still don't go that far, and you can really feel it in your hands when you miss the sweet spot. If you are looking for a super game-improving iron, check out the Adams A7s or the Wilson Staff D-FY.
I would recommend these sticks for the middle handicapper that hasn't broken into the single digits yet. You can certainly work the ball with these irons, even though they are a little larger. Once you improve, check out the Titleist 735CMs or the AP-2s.
