Callaway is an industry leader, and I really like the bang for the buck with this Big Bertha Diablo Hybrid. I'm not really sure why this club is so cheap.

This model has a very low center of gravity resulting in a high ball flight. The hybrid has Callaway's VFT. This stands for Variable Face Technology. This gives the face faster balls speeds with a sweet spot that covers the entire club face.

What I like best about the Big Bertha Diablo Hybrid is the offset hosel. Not only will this help you higher handicappers hit the ball with a closed clubface, but for those of you creative types, you'll find this club useful around the greens. With the offset face, you can play some delicate "touch" shots around the green. Practice them around the practice green and impress your playing partners the next time you are out on the links.

For those low handicappers, the Diablo Hybrid comes in a tour version that has less offset with a higher center of gravity. The high CG promotes a more penetrating ball flight and a more workable feel for shot making.

I challenge you to hit a bad shot with this hybrid. Okay, okay -- perhaps I'm getting carried away, but let me show you what I'm talking about.

The FT-iZ Hybrid is a triangular head with a stainless steel body. Not only does the triangular shape head raise the MOI in the hybrid, but it also reduces drag for faster swing speeds. The perimeter of the club head has metal injection-molded weights. This further raises the MOI and makes this perhaps the most stable hybrid on the market.

The hybrid has Callaway's VFT. This stands for Variable Face Technology. This gives the face faster balls speeds with a sweet spot that covers the entire club face. And finally, the hosel is offset, giving the higher handicapper more control.

I recommend this hybrid for all golfers, especially the mid to high handicappers who are looking for a very forgiving hybrid to add to their bag that will give them tremendous confidence from any lie.

For the lower to scratch players, check out the Mizuno MP-CLK and the Titleist 909 H.

Perhaps they are trying to appeal to us purists who are not quite ready to give up our traditional blades yet. If you are ready, this is a good way to go.

This Never Compromise has the "suspended face technology." On the face of the insert are five horizontal bars. These bars work like grooves that limit the contact of the golf ball with the putter face. This helps improve feel while promoting a consistent direction and smooth roll off the face and towards your target.

I really love the way the ball rolls off very smoothly with over spin. It has toe weighting -- which helps you keep the face square -- but it still provides a good pendulum feel.

The best thing about this putter is the ability to lag the ball. The bigger the head, typically the worse the feel for lagging, but this putter is one of the best I've tried.

The downside is that there is not a lot of feedback in your hands, and the sound is a bit metallic. For a putter with an exception feel, try the Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2.

The first thing I noticed is the modern-looking design: a cavity back design with a notch over the sweet spot.

The inverted cone technology expands the COR Zone. COR is the trampoline effect that you get off of the clubface. This will give you more ball speed from a much bigger sweet spot.

The iron has a moderate offset which will help the higher handicapper close the clubface at impact and give you more control as you get better.

I would recommend these irons for the high to middle handicappers that are looking for a large cavity back design that will give you confidence and extra ball speeds off of mishits. I also would recommend you check out the Adams Idea A7s and the Wilson Staff D-FY. Both of these sets are really great irons for improving your game and helping you get the most of your golf game as you improve your skills.

This #7 is from Odyssey's new White Ice line. Touted as their most responsive insert to date, Odyssey constructed this line after getting feedback from PGA Tour pros. The pros are looking for responsiveness, resiliency, and consistency, and that is what Odyssey has very effectively constructed.

The #7 is a modified mallet with weighted alignment wings, and a double-bend shaft with a full shaft offset. The insert is multi-layered and has been roughened to create a better sound when stroking through putts with soft golf balls. What's more is the rough texture also increases friction so that the ball is gripped and comes off the face smoothly as opposed to jumping or skidding.

Finally, the White Ice line has a dark nickel finish for a pleasing look that reduces glare. And tour-tuned weight ports in the sole are used to balance the putter depending on the shaft length.

I don't usually putt with these big mallets because I like the feel of a blade putter better for stroking those longer putts. I would recommend the Odyssey White Ice #1 Putter.

However, this #7 putter is the one to go with for making more of those short knee knockers!

I really like this putter, and it's hard to believe that it doesn't sell for a lot more money. This has all the tremendous feel and look of a Scotty Cameron without the high price tag. I would recommend this blade putter for feel putters that use the "open and close the gait" type of stoke.

For a game-improving, mallet-style putter, look for the modified mallet White Ice #7 putter, or the face-balanced White Ice Rossie mallet putter.

The insert in the Crimson Series Putters is very firm. It is called the "Crimson Stronomic." It is a co-molded ground polymer face. Odyssey makes the face flush by forming the insert directly in the face cavity and then grounding it.

I like the design of this putter head. It's simply a blade with a couple of wings on it. I really like the straight lines formed by the wings. This, in addition with the line on the clubhead for alignment, makes this putter very easy to line up square to the target.

Unfortunately, that is where my love for this putter ends. The Crimson series is the cheapest of the Odyssey lines, and it falls short of what I expect in an Odyssey putter. The insert is too hard, and the red color is ugly. Likewise, the stainless steel putter head looks shoddy.

I recommend you check out the Odyssey White Hot XG #7 Putter. This is a similar style putter, but with a higher MOI. It is better looking, and the White Hot XG series insert is softer and provides a much better feel than the Crimson series.
