At first glance, they look like your typical boat shoes, but a closer look reveals a specially designed golf sneaker. The bottom is more of a cleat than a spike. There are rows of rubber nubs along the bottom about half the size of the head of a golf tee.

The shoes are made of a durable and breathable textile lining with a microfiber heel grip. The Ecco Comfort Fibre System is a removable Cambrelle-covered inlay sole that helps increase air circulation and keep your feet cool and dry throughout your round.

Freddy claims he wears them because they take pressure off of his back and help him to play with less back pain. And he certainly played great at the 2010 Masters while wearing them, contending for the championship that was won by Phil Mickelson.

I would recommend these shoes to all golfers who are looking for comfort over performance. However, they are a bit out of my price range. For a more traditional-looking shoe that is extremely comfortable, I really like the Footjoy Contour series.

The ball is a 4-piece construction consisting of a soft urethane cover, a dual mantle, and a high energy core. Of course, the urethane cover is the softest cover on the market and is found in all of the premium balls.

The dual mantle is the cool new technology. The mantle is the layer between the core of the ball and the cover. This mantle dampens the compression of the ball, which essentially reduces spin when hit at high rates of speed like that which might be found at the end of Freddy Couples' driver. Less spin results in longer drives.

Don't worry, though -- the ball spins like mad on short shots and around the greens. If you are adverse to excess spin, try the Bridgestone B330. The B330 has a lower trajectory, less spin, and a firmer feel.

For those of you who want a high performance golf ball but aren't ready to throw down forty bucks, check out Bridgestone's E5 and E5+. These still have the urethane cover but are a bit firmer. The E5 is designed to give you a higher ball flight.

For those of you looking for a lower, penetrating ball flight, please check out the Bridgestone E7+. And for you slower swingers (less than 100mph), take a look at the B330RX and the B330RXS.

They have a dual pocket cavity. It is pretty cool. Bridgestone has added all the discretionary weight and moved it to the perimeter. This gives the iron more forgiveness while packing more mass directly behind the sweet spot.

I would highly recommend these irons for the low handicappers. The sole is tapered to give you better playability and shot making. If you are a player and like swinging a pure club that will make the ball talk, you can't go wrong with these bad boys.

If you are not sure, then check out the Bridgestone J36s. They are little bit bigger cavity backs and are easier to handle then these tour-quality clubs. Don't get me wrong, the J36s are still a great club for advance players, just gives you a little more confidence. Once you get to single digits, then go for these J38s.

Of course, when I think of Ashworth I think of another old guy, PGA Tour Pro Fred Couples. The man is the epitome of understated and non-flashy. This guy has always been a fan favorite because of his long, looping fluid swing and his laid back, "just another walk in the park" attitude. Fred is still going strong. 2010 is his first year on the Champions tour (and he's still one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour). And Ashworth is still just as popular, now sponsoring Stuart Appleby, Chris DiMarco, Rich Beem, Jim Nantz, Rick Smith, Nick Watney, and Steve Flesch.

This hat is a simple solid color with Ashworth's well-known Golfman logo on the front. It comes in white, tan, black, and navy blue. I like the navy blue the best. The hat fits all sizes with the adjustable two-toned colored strap with a silver clasp. The underside of the hat is dark to reduce glare.

The hat is made with 100% cotton twill, which is fairly light and breathable. For a hat that is better for wearing on those hot muggy days, check out the Nike Feather Light Cap. This hat is incredibly lightweight and wicks sweat away from your head.

These solid polos are made with Ashworth's EZ-Tech finish. I love these because they are very breathable, and the material wicks away sweat as I grind through my round. Other cool features are the open sleeve and the vents in the neckline. And of course, the best part of wearing Ashworth is the trendy Golfman Logo that looks like a pencil doodle drawing.

You can't go wrong with Ashworth, but for those real athletic types who are looking for the best in lightweight, breathable golf wear, I would recommend Nike's Dry Fit line. This is by far the best shirt for providing a shirt that breathes and moves with you when you swing the golf club. However, you won't look as good as Fred Couples.

I like ‘em, but I'm sure the golf purist would disagree (but what does he know -- he still wearing those ugly black & white stiff shoes?) Not only that, I saw old-timer Champions Tour pro Fred Couples sporting a pair of non-traditional looking Eccos the other day as he battled Tom Watson to the wire. (He lost by one stroke.)

I'll take comfort over fashion any day, and these shoes have both. The toe is wide while the heel is narrow. It has a durable TPU outsole that is watertight, and the shoe is waterproof and comes with a one-year waterproof guarantee.

Although this shoe is waterproof, I would take that with a grain of salt. My experience with waterproof golf shoes is that there is no such thing as a completely waterproof shoe. However, I might be an atypical control group as it never stops raining where I live in Portland.

For a shoe I can promise you will keep your feet dry, check out the ECCO Men's Classic Saddle GTX GoreTex Golf Shoe. This shoe isn't as sporty looking, but it has a 3-year waterproof guarantee and is very comfortable.

This is a moderately priced ball for the mid to high handicappers. It's a three-piece ball consisting of a core, mantle layer, and ionomer cover. The reason it's a little more expensive than your typical Top Flite ball is because the Bridgestone E6's low-compression core and mantle layer will take some of the sting of that hook or slice. In other words, the ball is designed to spin less and be more forgiving when you leave that driver face open at impact.

In addition, the E6+ has a seamless dimple pattern which also helps to promote a more consistent ball flight, and the ball has a pretty soft feel for a distance ball.

If you are looking for a high performance ball for under $30, this is your ball. If you want to take another step up, by all means take a gander at the Bridgestone B330-RX. This ball has a urethane cover and is the softest multilayer ball on the market. Even Boom Boom might have a few of these in his bag.
