This is a very unique golf book, and I haven't seen anything quite like it. It's a hodgepodge of golf writings by sports writers, humorists, and essayists. I'm not sure which one Jack Nicklaus qualifies as, but he contributed to this book as well.
More specifically, this is an anthology put together by Robert Sidorsky who has written for the New York Times since 1993. Robert was very thorough and included a lot of cool stuff including historical action photos, paintings, posters, and even magazine covers. In addition, there are many beautiful course photographs.
If you're a golf nut like me, you'll look forward everyday to sitting down and reading this book. Reading it is like hanging out at the 19th hole with a bunch other golf dorks listening to some of the amusing stories and hilarious takes on the game of golf.
Warning to golf geeks: Make sure you read this in a room with the doors closed, as I've had some problems with being harassed for laughing out loud and talking back to my book. And of course, don't even try to relay a funny story that you read to your wife at the dinner table -- you will only have your spirits shattered when she utters those inevitable words: "I don't get it."
