Pinnacle makes no excuses for their low-cost golf balls. Actually, they have a good niche in the distance ball market. My father plays these balls almost exclusively. He is a twenty-five handicapper and plays from the white tees. The reason he likes Pinnacle golf balls is because they are inexpensive, they go far, and they very durable.
Although, I'm not really sure how he knows that they are durable, because he doesn't really hold on to them that long. What he should say is, "They make a really big splash when they go in the water." (Sorry, Dad -- I'm just teasing.)
All joking aside, the Pinnacle Gold is a great golf ball for high handicappers. It has a very durable surlyn cover. The ball's dimple pattern is designed to reduce your hooks and slices and promotes a high ball flight. You can get these for less than 50 cents a ball, and Knetgolf has a 100% money back satisfaction guarantee.
If you are interested in moving up into a more "feel" ball, check out the Callaway HX Blue Golf Balls. This is a step up from the Pinnacle, and the soft feel and spin will be appreciated by more advanced golfers.
However, I think my father will probably stick with his "big splashing" Pinnacles.
