I love Ping products. I just can't hit them. Maybe they are intimidating to me or something, I'm not quite sure -- but it seems I can't do them justice. This club feels great to swing. The shafts I tried were a stiff Black Nickel type and felt much like a steel shaft, yet much lighter and "springier." The Ping S57 Irons (from the nice pitching wedge to the 3 iron) have a solid stainless steel body and tungsten toe weights, which makes them feel very forgiving, and overall they are a very pretty club. Solheim and his legacy lives on through the company that he started in his garage -- all the way down to these Black Dot "Tour-inspired" clubs.
These irons, while they would look nice in my bag and have a good history behind them, didn't seem to give me the same trajectory and distance that I have been able to get with a nice Callaway iron, though. Again, it may be that I just can't hit them -- you know how it goes. Some clubs just aren't "right" for you. I could still send (some) shots straight down the range and get good contact -- the dual vertical stabilizing bars in the design must have helped -- but other clubs just "felt" better. These are a solid club, and may be perfect for the right person -- just not for me.
