I was looking forward to reviewing this Nike Sphere Dry Golf Polo. Why? Because I haven't seen an uglier shirt in some time. I do hand it to Nike because they are always experimenting with new styles and designs, but I believe they struck out with this one.
First, the khaki color is not cool. I would have loved to have been in the Nike conference room when somebody thought out this gem. "Hey, why should we limit dull, boring, and geeky to just slacks?"
"Good idea, where should we put the pleats?" the other would reply.
Secondly, the Sphere Dry technology is poofy and obnoxious. The material is still that same really lightweight material you are used to in the Nike Dry fit shirts, but the Sphere model is thicker and spongier. This shirt makes me feel like I'm wearing bubble wrap.
Don't get me wrong. Nike is still one of my favorite golf brands, but this time, uncharacteristically, they shanked it into the woods. Thanks Nike for trying, but this is not your best effort. How ‘bout a mulligan?
