Nike ONE Platinum Golf Balls

Low Handicap, Long Distance

Nike ONE Platinum Golf Balls The golf ball competition is fierce. Just watch a PGA golf tournament on Sunday, and you'll see commercial after commercial with top tour pros touting their favorite balls. Just remember folks: these guys are getting thousands of dollars from the companies they represent to play those golf balls.

This Nike ONE Platinum is the cream of Nike's crop. It's designed for the feel player.

Let's take a look. The Platinum is a multi-piece, solid core ball with four pieces. The cover is made of urethane -- pretty much the standard in upper end balls. The Platinum has two layers between the core and the cover. The inner layer is responsible for the power and performance, while the outer layer gives the ball the spin with your short and mid irons. Of course, the spin on your short shots around the green comes from the cover.

This is a great ball, and if you are a low handicapper I think you will appreciate the feel and spin you get with your short irons. On the other hand, when it comes to feel around the greens I'm sticking with the Pro V1. The Platinum doesn't quite hit and grab like the Pro V1 does on my short chip shots.

Both balls are long on distance and durability. Thus, unless you lose one in the lake, you're going to get your money's worth. So take it from me -- not the television commercials -- as I'm not getting any money from either golf ball company.
