What golf ball should I play? There are only 4000 to chose from, right? And they range in price from a few dollars to several dollars. Let's take a look at one of the leaders in this industry.
These Nike One Black golf balls are pretty cool. It's a multi-piece, solid-core golf ball. It has three layers. The cover is made of urethane, pretty much the standard in upper end golf balls. It has a single mantle layer responsible for transferring speed to the ball, reducing spin and giving the ball a lot of distance, especially off of the driver.
This ball is great for mid to high handicappers that want to hit the ball far and aren't so concerned with the feel. The ball has a strong, flat ball flight that runs forever. It has very little spin even with a shallow angle of attack.
Although the lack of spin is great off the tee, it's a little disconcerting around the green. I prefer a ball that spins more. The Nike Black feels hard and makes more of a "click" sound when you hit it and it doesn't grab. If you're looking for more feel and spin, take a look at the Nike Platinum or Titleist Pro V1 balls.
With so many balls out there, it helps to know what you want out of your golf ball. I hope I helped you narrow it down.
