The Greenback Golf Course shares its property with one my favorite golf courses in all of the Portland area, The Great Blue. One of the reasons it's my favorite is because it is always in such great shape. And of course, this holds true for the Greenback as well because it's the same maintenance crew
I like the Greenback, but it is not quite as challenging as the Great Blue. It's quite a bit shorter, and all of the par 5's are reachable by you big hitters. That being said, the course makes up for it with the par 3's. They actually have quite a bite with most of them being a long iron or hybrid.
The greens are big, but they are undulating. Over on the Great Blue, we are fond of saying "No breaky at Heron Lakey," but this doesn't hold true on the Greenback.
My favorite thing about the course (besides how well the greens roll) is how beautiful it is. There are many views of Mt. Hood on the horizon and lots of wildlife such as bald eagles, hawks, and of course blue herons.
I would recommend this golf course to all players. For you low handicappers: make sure you play the Great Blue Course, and thank me later.
