This is a challenging track out in Southeast Portland. The course is long and lined with beautiful, tall, mature trees. It has lots of elevation changes, and you won't find too many flat lies in the fairway.
The course is usually in pretty good shape, but I wouldn't say it's one of the best manicured courses in Portland. However, you low handicappers will be able resist being nitpicky as you are trying to figure out how to club yourself for an elevated green while hitting the ball that is sitting ten inches below your feet over a cluster of pine trees to a tiny green.
For you high handicappers, don't fear -- on the same property is The West Course. This course is significantly less demanding and a lot of fun. If you do venture out onto the East side, make sure you bring plenty of golf balls and a positive attitude.
One of my favorite things about Glendoveer is the huge two-tiered covered driving range. You can practice your game any time of the year, and they have plenty of demo clubs to try as well.
Finally, the restaurant is a terrific steak place with a nice patio that many non-golfers patronize regularly.
