Before you play this course, do three things: 1) Leave your driver in your trunk, 2) Bring some extra golf balls, and 3) Have a good attitude.
Eastmoreland is a beautiful golf course and it's pretty short, but it's very tight -- built through a dense pine tree forest. Actually, it has become less tight recently as they are removing over a hundred trees. Environmentalists don't despair; there are still plenty of trees left. (What is a million minus one hundred??… I'm not good at math.)
The course is very beautiful, located in a nice neighborhood in southeast Portland, with more varieties of trees and shrubs than you will ever see in one place. The back nine is especially beautiful bordering a rhododendron garden, a lake, and a creek. Look for bald eagles, hawks, and nutrias (kind of like beavers) foraging near the water banks.
The course is fun, but my favorite thing about it is the facility itself. They have a great covered area to hit golf balls on the driving range year round. And on a warm sunny day when all the restaurant patios in Portland are full of people, you can always get a seat on the front patio of the restaurant and watch people tee off on number ten. (The food is pretty good too.)
