You knew it was coming. Here is a ball that is completely eco-friendly! The Earth Ball is 100% recyclable. In fact, the ball comes with a return mail package, and the company will give you a dollar credit on all balls returned. Now you have a reason to go foraging in those snake-infested woods.
Listen up, hippies: A lot of golf balls are manufactured with heavy metals, including lead and cobalt. Every time you chunk it into the lake, you've polluted the earth for a million years. Not so fast! You've actually only polluted the earth for the time it takes the diver to show up and collect all the balls and resell them to you in the pro shop.
The Earth Ball is a good concept, but the cover leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't very durable and scuffs pretty easy. In addition, they should put an alignment aid on it if they want to appeal to the mainstream golfer.
The Earth Ball for now is a gimmick, but I wouldn't be surprised to see in the future, with more research and development, a tour-quality ball that is eco friendly. I'm sure Ed Begley Jr. is working on it as we speak.
