You would think an umbrella is just an umbrella, wouldn't you?
Well, I thought that too -- until I saw the one by Davek. This is the Traveler umbrella, and the one I looked at was in a cranberry red. At first I was skeptical, maybe because of the color (which is pretty bright), or maybe just because I expected less.
As I like gadgets, the first thing I thought was neat was the push button open and close function. Plus, if the umbrella ever inverts, a simple push of the button will actually correct themselves and return to closed position. Very cool.
The frame is very strong, and it is actually reinforced with fiberglass ligaments and has a solid steel shaft to prevent breakage. It has a strap for carrying, but also can be easily placed in a side pocket on a golf bag. It is extremely thin, but surprisingly strong and very water-repellent. (You would hope so.)
Here's the best thing: It carries a lifetime guarantee. If at any time while you own the umbrella it fails because of a defect in the material or workmanship, Davek will repair or replace it.
Think the price looks too high? Not if it's literally the last umbrella you ever have to buy.
