Look Ma!! It's LASERS! Cleveland used lasers to mill the face of these game-improving irons. It gives the surface area a roughness designed to maximize spin.
I'm not a huge fan of this blocky-looking, cavity-back-style iron, although it does have some redeeming qualities. For one, the tiny cavity within the topline decreases in size as you move from the long irons to the shorter ones. This gives you the best center of gravity for each iron. Second, it has a "gelback" technology, which helps dampen the vibrations and gives you a more solid feel than most cavity back designs.
I will give Cleveland some credit -- this is a very wide-soled club that doesn't look too bad at address. Having said that, the blocky head shape certainly leaves something to be desired, especially in the short irons.
For a game-improving iron that I really like, I would recommend the TaylorMade R9 Iron Set. I like the looks of these irons much better, and it has a large hot face that is extremely forgiving. In addition, I am a big fan of their 90-gram KBS steel shaft with a progressive-thickness wall.
