The upside of this heater is it does as advertised. This feels great on those frozen extremities when you hustle back to your cart in the driving, freezing wind. The down side is you have to fight your playing partner for quality time with it. Unfortunately, it points up at your face and only shoots in one specific direction. It would be nice if it could be directed a little lower as well. In addition, because it's a bit top-heavy, it tends to launch out of the cup holder over rough terrain, which is fine if you need your lap or feet heated!

Make sure check out this Camo Enclosure for extra comfort and warmth as well. The camo design is an extra benefit, so the authorities won't spot you playing on a closed golf course in the middle of a blizzard.

This Sun Mountain Micro 4-Wheel Push Cart is one of the nicer ones I've seen. The three-wheeled carts, like the Sun Mountain Speed Cart V1, seem to be more trendy then the four-wheelers. However, this four-wheeler can hold its own.

The Micro folds up in two moves and is just as compact as most of the three-wheel carts. Plus it's more stable and tracks better on the golf course.

The best thing about this four-wheel Micro is I don't have to strap my clubs in it. You just drop your bag in it, and two arms hold them secure. In addition, it has an umbrella holder that holds your umbrella over you and your clubs.

A great compliment to this push cart is the Sun Mountain 2010 MCB Cart Bag. Among other "neato" qualities, the bag has an insulated cooler pouch.

Of course, I had been teasing Nick relentlessly since he started using a push cart, calling him "an old man." (He is ten years younger than me.)

Nick instructed, "Make sure you get one that folds up compact enough to fit in your trunk, and don't buy one with those cheap looking plastic wheels." This Sun Mountain Speed Cart meets both of these criteria.

This Speed Cart has shock-absorbing pneumatic tires. (Yes, I had to look up the word "pneumatic" in the dictionary. It means it has inflatable tires.) And it folds up very easily and is compact enough to fit in most trunks.

If you were to ask me what to look for in a push cart (not Nick), I'd just tell you to get one with a drink holder, maybe a couple of drink holders. This Sun Mountain only has one, but I can recommend a great golf bag to throw on this which has an insulated cooler pouch! Check out the Sun Mountain 2009 SCB Speed Cart Bag.

Finally, another push cart that l like the look of a little bit better is the Clicgear 2.0 Push Golf Cart. It's sportier-looking then this Sun Mountain, but it does have those "cheap looking" plastic wheels.

The problem with me owning one of these remote control electric carts is that I'd want to play with it more then I'd want to play golf. Hopefully, if you are getting ready to purchase one of these, you are much more mature than I am. These are really great, especially for you folks that have back problems and can't handle the strain of pushing or carrying your clubs. Or perhaps you just like cool gadgets and want to impress your friends.

The Bag Boy 2009 Navigator 2 maintains a straight path even on the roughest of terrains. It needs no calibrations and has no trouble with interference from steel shafts or metal buildings. This newer model features a new soft braking with wider wheels, it's more compact when folded, has twin calibrated 140 watt motors, a 360 degree swivel front wheel with suspension, and handle-mounted controls with a remote control.

My favorite thing (other than the fact that I can harass my golfing buddies with it) is the removable seat with storage compartment. Not only will it drag your clubs around for you all day, but it provides a comfortable seat to take a load off your feet. This is the best tool for seniors who still enjoy walking the course.

Having this electric cart is the next best thing to having your own caddie. Heck, while you're at it, add the Sky Caddie SG5 Bonus Pack -- a golf GPS system that gives you exact yardages -- and you pretty much have a complete virtual caddie!

You ever go golfing and expect to rent a cart? Then you don't? Then you're mad at all the guys that wanted to walk because of some foreign word that they started throwing around? Exorcised or something like that...

So now I bring up the cart option, suddenly I'm the jerk. Mention that the course is pretty hilly, magically I'm the baby. Have just one little tiny asthmatic-type breathing episode after tying my shoes and -- oh sure, now I'm out of shape!

So what do I do? Besides excusing myself for a brief moment to wipe tears from my eyes and catch my breath, I rent one of the course's pull carts. That works about as well as a rented Q-tip. You ever rent course clubs? Yeah. The ones with mismatched 3, 5, and 9 irons that three different people left behind at three different holes? On purpose?

That's what a rental pull cart is like. My bag didn't fit. The handle was sticky. The wheels kept getting stuck. I needed the Ultimaxx by Cadie, with a M.A.S.H. (Multi Adapter System Handle) system so it holds everything I need. Padded handle that feels good even after lugging around for 18 holes.

And I mean all over 18 holes.

This cart also has some of the nicest 12" wheels on 2.25" wide tires. That would have been nice. You just can't get rental pull carts out of the ditch. You just can't.

So, bottom line, I still walked the rest of the holes with my friends, but in addition to their cruddy rental clubs, they also have a pull cart somewhere downstream in one of their creeks.

Your personal caddie shows up at the golf course an hour before you do and prepares your clubs, marks off distances, and then carries your bag during your round. (You might think I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.)

All joking aside, if you don't have one of these push carts, do your back a favor and go get one. Not only will you feel better after your round, but you will save yourself strokes having more endurance to pull off that clutch shot on #18 with all the skins riding in the balance.

This particular cart, the Bag Boy Automatic, is your basic model. It has all your standard features: it has 3 wheels, is adjustable to almost all golf bags, and has a telescoping handle to adjust to your height.

What I don't like about it is the cheap plastic wheels. Plus I like a few more bells and whistles when it comes to my push cart.

Take a look at the Linksman Golf X-7 Golf Push Cart. Not only does it have real wheels, but the coolest thing is you can also fold it up while your bag is still on it.

Of course I don't really need any of these features, because my caddie handles all the loading and unloading.

If you save your back, you're going to save yourself some strokes in the process. It took me a little while to come around to the push cart, me being a purist and all. I insisted on lugging my sticks around on my back. Boy, am I glad I finally invested in one.

This Linksman Golf X-7 Golf Push Cart is one of the nicer ones that I've seen, and it costs just about the same as my basic one that I bought a few years ago. Like most push carts, it will adjust to just about any size bag and is very portable. This is where the similarities end with my basic push cart.

Unlike mine, the Linksman X-7 has two drink holders, one where the scorecard holder is and one off to the side where it is very convenient to grab. This cart has three inflatable wheels, whereas mine has the cheap solid plastic ones. Oh, and another cool upgrade: There are various lie angles that you can adjust to, thus you can make it very specific to your height.

The thing I like best about it is you can fold it up while your golf bag is still attached. How cool is that? I get pretty tired of strapping my bag on and off the cart before tossing it into my truck, especially after a long, hard fought round on the links.

And don't worry; you shouldn't have any trouble lifting your cart and bag into the trunk. After all, your back should be fine since you didn't have to haul around that heavy golf bag.

For those of you who own your own cart (or perhaps you are a course owner looking for something to give your carts a little "extra"), the Fairway Golf Car Club Canopy is a very cool little attachment. Made by Classic Accessories, this nice little item is made of a rugged, weather protected fabric that is supposed to be both shrink and stretch resistant. It is very accessible by just pulling down, and it retracts back quickly when not in use. Unlike others that I have seen, this one is very unobtrusive when retracted, and it has a very nice-sized back window when extended.

It's always nice to have your clubs (and perhaps your container of grass seed) covered if it happens to rain during the round. It appears that the company has made sure that these really fit almost any two-person cart with a roof, and it seems like a good little purchase for the value.

Who am I kidding? You have your own cart! You may be looking into a fully-enclosed all-weather cart with spinner wheels and flames on the side...

I'm going to go wallow in self pity while thinking about how I can save money for the next time I rent a cart...
