With some updated engineering, Adams has tried to make this their "easiest-to-hit" iron set, yet. The set starts out with the hybrids in numbers 3, 4, and 5 with the "Boxer" head design (as pictured below). This Boxer technology is essentially a shaping that creates a very high Moment-Of-Inertia or MOI. (In simple terms, MOI is a clubs resistance to twisting on off-center hits. The higher the MOI number, the more resistance.) From there, the set carries on with hollow-back irons for the 6, 7, and 8 irons. The set of eight total irons rounds out with a cavity back offering in the 9 iron and pitching wedge.

Targeted at the high handicapper, a mixed set of hybrids and irons is a great idea and there are several options now available on the market. In this set from Adams, the long irons are replaced with an easier-to-hit hybrid, and the shorter scoring clubs utilize available technology for optimum ease of use -- and ultimately greater pleasure in playing the game. Part of this technology is the progressive offset found in the 6, 7 and 8 irons, which translate to higher launch angles (and softer approaches). The 9 iron and PW are a bit more traditionally shaped and would appeal to most any player.

This set is available in right hand only but has two shaft options: either the Graffaloy ProLaunch Red 80-gram or the True Temper Players Lite Steel. Both are excellent choices, and this would simply be a personal preference of feel and confidence. Both shaft options are also available in your choice of Regular or Stiff flex.

If you’ve been playing for awhile, you will like how the club looks at address. It looks very traditional and is very pleasing to the eye. However the club has all kinds of game improving technology. The oversized heads give you more confidence that you will make good contact, while the cavity back provides a very large sweet spot. The offset gets more and more pronounce as the clubs get longer. That means those longer clubs that you’ve come to dread, are going to be your friends again. The offset gives you a little help closing the clubface, which results in less slices by the slower swingers. You might even find yourself drawing the ball again!

Available in right hand only, these clubs also feature the ultralight HL graphite shafts in "senior" flex. If you are a senior and you are still swinging steal shafts, then it’s time to update. (Heck, even if you aren’t a senior, I’d recommend graphite shafts to any player that isn’t a single digeit handicap. (Even PGA Tour pro Matt Kucher swings graphite shafts.)

Suffice it to say, Adams has packed plenty of punch in this set of irons designed for the senior player. With the set starting at the 4-iron, it avoids the difficult to hit 3-iron and makes it that much easier to add a hybrid or wedge to round out your full set and not feel like you're leaving something behind by dropping the 3-iron. I would recommend you get rid of the 4-iron and maybe even the 5-iron too. Replace those clubs with hybrids. Trust me on this one, you will thank me later. Hybrids are the way to go vs. hitting anything longer than a 5-iron for slower swingers.

I really like the polished chrome finish. As I mentioned before they look like the traditional players clubs at address. However the back of these irons share their color markings in the familiar red/black/white scheme from Adams Golf. I’m not as big of fan of this design. And with no options to select from, this set is a "take-it-or-leave-it" proposition. That said, if the specs of the Adams RPM irons meet your needs and game, give them a try. If not, there are a lot of clubs to be found in this category. Two other sets worthy of consideration are the Adams Idea and the Orlimar Hybrid set featuring all hybrid-style irons. Whatever your particular fancy, as a senior player, there are more and more products available every day to help you maximize your game and the enjoyment you get from it. Golf is a game for life, but unfortunately your old equipment isn’t.

The driver is oversized with a 13-degree loft. The big clubhead will give confidence to swing away. Make sure you tee the ball up high for the deep face. The high loft will help you get the ball in the air -- sometimes a trouble area for the beginners. The fairway wood is also oversized and forgiving.

The hybrids are the best clubs in the bag. You will gravitate towards these clubs the quickest. I recommend hitting them off the tee and for almost every shot until you gain confidence with your driver and fairway woods.

The short irons are big, cavity-back clubs that are easy to hit into the greens from inside 100 yards. The bag is also pretty nice for a starter set. However, I would trade out the putter pretty quickly for a better quality stick. Demo some mallet putters until you find something that you can't miss with.

Another good starter set that I like a little more is the Adams Golf A7OS Starter Set. Both of these sets are comparable, but I like the Adams fairway wood and irons a little more.

Adams is one of the market leaders in hybrid clubs and is very adept at creating forgiving clubs that help beginner and intermediate golfers improve their game. This set comes with a driver, 5 wood, 5 hybrid, 9 and 7 iron, a sand wedge, a putter, and a bag.

The driver has a huge 460cc clubhead (the biggest that you will find) with a 12.5-degree loft. The big clubhead will give you more confidence at address, and the high loft will help you get the ball airborne and flying high. The 5 wood has Adam's typical low profile face that helps you hit shots out of the rough.

The 5 hybrid is my favorite in the bag. This club is so easy to hit. You may find yourself using it for almost every shot, even your tee shots. The short irons are large, cavity-back clubs that are very easy to hit from 100 yards and in.

This set also comes with a bag and putter, but I think you will probably want to upgrade these items after a few rounds. I would recommend demoing some higher-end putters as you improve and grabbing a snazzier stand bag for good measure.

The Adams Lady Speedline F10 Driver is specifically shaped to reduce drag. The crown of the driver has been reshaped so that the peak height is much higher than topline, and the frontal cross-sectional area is reduced with heel and toe cutouts. Adams says this driver has "2.5 to 4.2 mph higher clubhead speed and 3 to 9 yards more distance through more efficient airflow around the clubhead."

The coolest thing is it accomplishes this without changing to one of those freakish geometric shapes. The traditional-looking clubface is very large with a 460cc clubhead that is very forgiving with a huge MOI.

I like this driver and would compare it to the TaylorMade Lady Burner SurperFast Driver. However, the TaylorMade has the aforementioned freakish triangular shape that looks like a fighter jet wing.

I also recommend the TaylorMade Lady R9 Supertri Driver. It has an adjustable driver head, giving you up to 75 yards of right left variance.

The technology today makes it ten times easier to pick up this game then it did even ten years ago. If my grandfather could blog, he'd tell you. Unfortunately, my grandfather thinks a blog is a swamp. When I told him I was blogging once, he asked me, "Did you catch anything?"

This is the same guy that walked miles and miles to school barefoot in the snow. "Uphill both ways!" he'd always say. Gramps would say about his first set of clubs, "Back when I was learning to play, we had a clubhead the size of a spoon on the end of a tree branch, and we used a rock for a golf ball."

He might be exaggerating a little, but to his point, I love these A3OS hybrids for anybody picking up or struggling with their golf game. The hybrids have what they call Boxer Hybrids. These hybrids have the highest MOI then any hybrid I've seen. The boxer shape allows them to move a tremendous amount of weight to the back and perimeter of the clubhead, making them extremely forgiving.

This set has everything you need -- including a bag and a putter. Although, as you improve, I would recommend that you buy a nicer bag and upgrade your putter to an Odyssey Putter. Of course, my grandfather... well, he used to putt with a broken broomstick.

At first glance, it's obvious that Adams is trying to appeal to the better player who isn't quite ready to jump headfirst into a hybrid. It's a black hybrid that looks like an iron.

The club head is designed with a short blade length and is shorter from back to front with less bulge and roll. This will give better players more control of the club for shot-shaping as opposed to the newer, bulkier hybrids.

This hybrid has a weight plug to lower the center of gravity. This plug can be customized at the factory.

I would recommend this hybrid for better players and advise the higher handicappers to stay away. I think the lower handicappers may appreciate how easy it is to work the ball with a fast swing speed. Of course having said that, you guys with those fast swing speeds won't see a huge advantage over this compared to your favorite 3 iron.

I'd advise you dive into a hybrid headfirst. I recommend the Mizuno MP CLK Hybrid or Titleist 909 H Hybrid for the better players and the Cobra Baffler Rail H Hybrid for the high handicappers.

Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable? How do you fold a fitted sheet? I will cover all three of these questions in this one review -- and for the price of only one review. (As always, I pass the savings on to the consumer.)

First: Adams, the maker of this Speedline, is the king of the hybrids, so this must be a hybrid.

Not so fast, Chachi! The club comes in three lofts: 13 degrees, 15 degrees, and 18 degrees. These are typically the lofts of 3 woods (perhaps even a 4 wood). Hmmm. It is extremely easy to hit and gets through the rough way easier than any 3 wood I've ever seen. However, I'm going to have to go with fairway wood because of how far I hit it.

Another cool thing about this "Hywood" is the cambered sole and weight pad in the heel. This gives the club a very high MOI and a good balance, which makes it easy to close the club face at impact.

Finally, a tomato is neither a fruit nor a vegetable. It is a juice which goes well with Vodka and Tabasco. Oh yeah, and there is no way to fold a fitted sheet! It's like hitting a 1 iron; it's impossible. Take it directly from the dryer to the bed or roll it up in a ball and hide it under a stack of towels.

Tom helped craft this very reasonably priced sand wedge. The thing I like about these wedges the most is the versatility. The head shape is simple and conservative, yet still forgiving. You can play a variety of different shots from any lie with this wedge.

The wedge has aggressive box groove volume which gives the face a nice bite. With a little practice, you will perfect those stroke-saving shots where the ball bounces once and stops right next to the hole.

I would recommend this wedge to all golfers. It is available in both classic and players grinds, and in satin and chrome finish.

For two other wedges I highly recommend, take a look at the Men's Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can Wedge and the Cleveland CG15. These wedges are a little bit more expensive, but they are works of art.

Adams golf invented the hybrid club.  Don’t quote me on that because it may not be completely true. It was probably a scientist, who is now sitting on a beach in Tahiti.  However, Adams has always been the leader in the hybrid technology, and they've really outdone themselves again with this set. I really like the A7 OS Hybrids.

Long Hybrids (3-5). I’m going to start with the long hybrids because these are the clubs that all of us struggle with.  Long gone are the days when we have to swing a 2 or 3, or even a 1-iron.  The new hybrids have made these clubs obsolete. These longer hybrids, the 3, 4 and 5 are very easy to swing.   Adams has put an extra 44 grams in the heel and toe for more stability. Once you get the hang of them, they may soon become your favorite club in the bag.  A word to the wise (or in this case, several words):  Set up with these clubs just like you would a long iron – ball up in your stance with hands in front, leading the club head.  Don’t swing it like your driver, and please don’t try to kill the ball.  With a nice smooth tempo you will be surprised how quickly the ball gets up and how far it flies.

Middle Hybrids (6-7). The middle irons are hollow-back middle hybrids designed to get the ball up even quicker, flying high with marginal spin.  This is your 5 and 6 hybrid.  They look a little more like traditional irons, but are many times more forgiving.  They have a tremendous sweet spot and extra weight has been put behind the face to give it more stability.  These are the hybrids that you will use to shave strokes off your game when your 160 yard approaches are finding their way to the green or the fringe.

Short Irons (8-PW).  Here we have the scoring clubs.  These are your traditional short irons but larger.  They have a cavity back so you don’t have to hit the ball exactly in the middle of the clubface for it to fly at the target.  With a big sweet spot and loads of forgiveness, the short irons are your key to more pars and birdies.

I like the looks of these club heads. If you haven’t swapped out your ancient blades or 2 and 3 irons, then you are missing the boat.  This would be like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal playing tennis with an old wooden racket like the ones Borg and McEnroe used to use.

Sure, they are a bit oversized, but not so bad so that it looks like those ugly ping-pong paddles I've seen from some of the other brands.

I tend to only recommend these hybrid sets for the beginners and the high handicappers, but I would like to expand that in regards to this set of A7s. I believe even the middle handicappers would appreciate the forgiveness and ease it is to swing these Adams A7s.
