I think a big part of this trend is the cool fashion designs that the ladies are sporting. Here's a great concept invented by Vicki Waldorf, wife of PGA Tour pro Duffy Waldorf. Vicki realized there were no hats designed with the ladies' preferences in mind and came up with Gogie Girl. The name comes from a nickname she gave her daughter who, when she was a baby, used to chase after her older brothers, always wanting to go with them, saying "Gogie, Gogie, Gogie." Thus, her company is designed for women who are on the go.

Some of the qualities that you are going to like about this hat (that you won't find in any men's hat) are:

To start, the hat. It's designed with lots of room in the back, making it easy to wear a ponytail, and the strap that adjusts to fit your head is easily hidden in a special pocket. The underside of the brim is black to mute glare, and the special Silton lining prevents makeup stains. This hat is extremely soft and very lightweight.

This Dottie design takes its name from the crazy polka dots (not LPGA pro Dottie Pepper). The latest trend in ladies' apparel seems to be "the wilder, the better." I like this hat, but if you are a little more conservative, check out the plain-jane Carly hat. It's a simple, solid-colored hat with just the Gogie insignia on it.

Let me give you some highlights of how this hat is specifically designed for ladies. For one, it's very lightweight, made with a soft mesh fabric. It's designed with lots of room in the back, making it easy to wear a ponytail. The black underside helps kill the glare from the sun, and the Silton lining helps prevent makeup stains.

My favorite thing about the hat is the logo on the front of the hat. It actually reminds me of the lady's version of the Ashworth logo. It's very simple, but cool looking. This particular style is a plain hat with just the logo. It is a standard fit and will fit heads with a circumference of 21 inches to 24.5 inches and comes in pink and beige.

I'd go with the pink, as the more feminine colors seem to be all the rage on the LPGA tour. I would also recommend that you check out the Dottie hat. This is a wild polka-dotted hat that is sure to draw attention.

This design is the popular trucker style hat. They are very trendy, but also very practical because the mesh in the back of the hat lets your head breath and you stay cool. All Gogie hats are very lightweight made with a soft mesh fabric. It's designed with lots of room in the back, making it easy to wear a ponytail. The black underside helps kill the glare from the sun, and the Silton lining helps prevent makeup stains.

This hat comes in many different colors, thus you might as well get a few to match your different outfits. I like the pink one. It goes great with my pink Capri pants. Ahem… I mean, that is, if I had some.. which of course I don't.

I have to wear glasses. It didn't start until later in life. Some of you know how it is. Others don't.

Some of you are like me and have to decide how you are going to shade your delicate pupils from the harmful UV rays while on the course. Do I look like a goober and actually try clip-ons? Do I risk getting the glasses that automatically change in the sunlight, but don't really go back to normal indoors -- forcing me to look like Roy Orbison? Or do I shuck the glasses and try to play it cool by wearing standard sunglasses that aren't prescription?

No. I can't do that. That's how I end up hitting a four iron about seventy yards past the green because it looked like a blurry seven.

So here's my review for all you punks out there that can wear cool sunglasses. Nike FURI's. They're cool. They're red. They're light. They have a vented nose piece so you don't fog up under pressure or have them slip down your nose -- forcing you to push them up like the rest of us nerds.

That's it. Blah, blah, blah. Get your fancy glasses and wear them whenever and wherever you want! See if we care! You and your FURI Nike sunglasses...

Yet there are a few things that I seem to still be "old school" about. One of them is the type of watch I wear.

Before I continue, remember that these reviews can be very personal and opinionated. This is just one of those reviews. I simply cannot stand the tilted display on some of these watches that Nike made famous. Therefore, when I saw the Nike Triax Speed 100 watch -- I disliked it from the start.

Granted, the time is very easy to read with its large display, and it has quite a number of functions -- especially for runners -- such as lap times, 100-lap chronographs, and five different interval timers for customizable trainings or workouts. It's water resistant and has 2 alarms on it.

But I can't get away from how much that slanted display bugs me. I also tend to dislike the "sport watch feel" that many of the rubber watches have. This one was also pink and black, which...well... just didn't go with my shoes.

Sorry, Nike -- not for me. Instead, go with this Callaway Men's Watch, which looks and feels much better and has a normal vertical display.

Golf is no longer a man's sport and thanks to Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and others, golf fashion has come to the forefront.

My girlfriend really had no interest in golf until she realized it would give her an excuse to go out and buy some cute clothes. "Sure honey, I'd love to go golfing," she exclaims, "Hmm... What should I wear?!"

Her favorite apparel on a warm day is skorts. (Me, I've always detested skorts. This is the biggest fraud perpetuated on man since the Wonderbra and should be outlawed, but that's another blog.)

I bought her the Tehama Skort in plaid. I like it because she looks hot in it. She likes it because it's fashionable and comfortable. The gray plaid pattern goes with most of her golf tops in her golf wardrobe.

I asked her what she liked about them. She said the venting in the front gives her plenty of range of moment, while the "shorties" underneath provide good coverage. As for the cons, she said she prefers to have more pockets when she's playing golf to hold her tees, ball markers, score card, etc.

Golf fashion is big, and it is drawing even more people to our wonderful sport. I'm seeing more and more women out on the links and they are doing it in style. I can only pray that the time never comes when my girlfriend is playing as good as she looks.
